Pressure tight, moisture tight connection between two components, one or both of which comprises a bore, is constructed using a hot-shrnk plastics sleeve. The sleeve (1) is first heated, and simultaneously expanded to a larger dia. at one end (A) and longitudinally stretched to reduce its dia. at the other end (B). The sleeve is then cooled. Its expanded end is then fitted over a pipe (2) or other component, while its reduced end (B) is fitted into a bore (3) of the second component. The sleeve is then heated, causing the wider end to hot-shrink onto the pipe (2) or the like, whle the narrower end shrnks longitudinally and expands radially to fit tightly into the bore (3). A claimed use is the connection of a cable or pipe (2) to a guide duct (3) in a casing or the like.
