<p>A shock absorber for a washing machine with spin-drying capacity comprises a cylinder, having a fixing eye attached to the closed end, in which slides a piston supported by a piston-rod whose outer end is formed into a foot which acts as a resilient hinge and by which the rod is attached to a fixing plate at an angle of less than 90 deg. The foot, and possibly also the fixing plate, pref. forms an integral part of the piston rod which consists of moulded plastic material. Ths construction is simple and economical, using few components, and the mounting has a controlled degree of stability.</p> |
