PURPOSE:To manufacture an inexpensive optical waveguide, by selecting the length of an optical fiber so that all the transmission loss becomes a desired transmission loss or below between a high loss optical fiber and a low loss optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:In case when length of an optical fiber route and its maximum loss are decided in advance, at first, a high loss optical fiber whose transmission loss is comparatively large, and a low loss optical fiber whose transmission loss is comparatively small, in each equal band are selected for the purpose of use. These length is decided so that a total of these length coincides with length of said route, and also all the transmission loss due to combination of both these fibers becomes said maximum loss or below. Subsequently, when they are connected to each other in the lengthwise direction, an optical waveguide having a middle transmission loss of both the optical fibers is obtained. |
