PURPOSE:To secure safety of automobiles in operation by preventing a shift lever from moving to the ''backward''-position during a high speed forward run. CONSTITUTION:When an automobile is going forward, and if the speed becomes high, a signal from a speedometer 13 sets a change-over switch 12 to ON, which actuates an electromagnet 10. As a result, a rod 8 is projected into a guide hole 7 as shown in presumptive lines, resisting the force of a spring 9. This prevents a reverse shaft 3 from moving leftward beyond end face A of the reverse side or to the shaft position where the car is driven backward. When the automobile runs slow, the rod 8 moves back from the guide hole 7, releasing the restriction over the reverse shaft 3. |
