PURPOSE:To improve productivity as well as to produce a lattice of high collecting performance, by rolling the lattice base thicker in the vicinity of the collecting lug than in the area apart from the lug, before the expanding work is started on a lead sheet. CONSTITUTION:Before the lead or lead alloy sheet wound in a coil shape is delivered into an expanding machine to be formed in an expanded mesh applied to an active material holder, the sheet shall be rolled through such a roll 3 whose diameter T1 corresponding to the portion touching the area of the sheet close to the collecting lug after expand work is smaller than the diameter T2 corresponding to the portion far from the lug. Thus, the thickness t1 of the intermediate rib 7 in the mesh area close to the lug 5 can be formed larger than the thickness t2 in the similar area far from the lug after the expand work. Thus, the collecting performance can be improved without effecting ill influence on the productivity so as to obtain a lattice of excellent voltage properties. |
