PURPOSE:To stabilize transmission characteristics, by preventing a unit from getting out of shape by winding an optical fiber assembly with a wide tape without any gap. CONSTITUTION:Optical fiber cores 2 are stranded around a center tensile-force body 1 such as a galvanized copper wire. The number of the cores per stranding pitch P0 is (n), so the cores are fixed by being wound with a wide tape 4 whose tape width alpha is >=P0/n without any gap. The overlap width of the tape is adequately 1/5-1/2 the tape width. Consequently, the cores never protrude out and a unit is prevented from getting out of shape. Futher, even when external force of compression, etc., is applied, the cores, etc., become hard to bent, thereby stabilizing transmission characteristics. |
