PURPOSE:To reduce variations in transmission loss of light due to vibrations of an optical fiber cable resulting from interference of light, by providing uneven refractivity distribution to both end parts of the core of the cable. CONSTITUTION:The intermediate part of an optical fiber cable F has even refractivity distribution, and both end parts Fa and Fb of the core of the cable have uneven distribution, increasing the number of modes of an optical signal at the output terminal of the optical fiber. For the transmission of light from a light source, such as a semiconductor laser, having less distribution of oscillation wavelength and less mode distribution, a simple interference pattern generated at an optical fiber cable connection point is made complicate. Consequently, the complicate interference pattern is generated at the connection point of the fiber cable and even if the optical connection point shifts, variations in transmission loss are reduced. |
