The mechanism comprises a drive shaft (5) which is rotated in both directions by a reversible motor (7). The drive shaft is connected to the input shaft of the transmission (6). The output shaft of the transmission is connected to one end of a flexible drive shaft (8). The other end of this shaft is connected to a gear train (9). The gear train drives the bar (4) on which the cover is rolled. A telescopic cylindrical lever (10) guides the movement of the gear unit as it moves along a curved track and prevents any spontaneous rotation.
