The invention relates to a cutting head (10) for a screw-cutting machine, in which cutting head (10) the front end of a tube (43) is able to bear against and displace stops (29), as a result of which a swing bar (23) is pivoted and a template body (22) is thereby displaced linearly. During this displacement, a template bar (34), on account of the rolling movement between its sloping surface (36) and a sloping surface (21) of the template body, is displaced in such a way that a tongue guide (15) and a tongue body (17) are displaced in the peripheral direction of the main part (11) of the cutting head. During this movement, chasers (12) are gradually retracted from the tube (43) so that a tapered thread can be cut during the rotary and feed movement of the tube (43). <IMAGE>
