The grill is especially for cheese and has a base plate (10), an electrically heated top (11) and an arm (12) to hold the cheese. The top is mounted above the plate by a C-shaped support (40) so that a plate can be placed directly under the cheese so that the cheese melted by the infra-red rays flows on to the plate. The base plate is covered by a plate (41) made of refractory ceramic material or natural stone. The top can occupy two positions, one when it is inclined at 45 deg. and one when it is horizontal.
