A road roller consists of rolling bodies which are arranged one behind the other in the direction of travel, are pivotable relative to one another and are laterally displaceable, two frame parts for mounting the rolling bodies, a connecting element which is coupled to the frame parts via in each case one joint with a vertical pivot pin, and also actuating devices for directing and laterally displacing the rolling bodies. In the non-displaced state, the two rolling bodies, when taking curves, should be able to run on the same curve radius and at the same time allow a relatively large lateral displacement relative to one another. For this purpose, a relatively large frame part is provided which carries the driver's seat and the drive and whose joint carries the pivot pin at the centre between the rolling body axles. The connecting element can rotate about this pivot pin with the aid of at least one hydraulic jack, the hydraulic jack being articulated, on the one hand, to the relatively large frame part and, on the other hand, to the connecting element or to a lever arm rigidly connected to the connecting element. Furthermore, a separate actuating element is provided in order to pivot the smaller frame part relative to the connecting element.
