Loop aerial with tuning capacitor diametrically opposite feed - and slightly circumferentially offset between connecting point of inner and outer of coaxial lead

The connection increases coupling efficiency without greatly increasing the complexity of the loop aerial construction. The application is partic. to aerials supplied by a coaxial cable. The infeed point is diametrically opposite the tuning capacitor (2). The inner core (4') of the coaxial feeder (3) connects with a matching lead (6) which is parallel to, but electrically insulated from, the aerial ring (1). The connection point (9) to the ring is at a distance (X) of about 0.08 of the total aerial circumference displaced from the diametrically opposite point to the capacitor. The outer conductor of the feeder is connected (5) at the diametrically opposite point. The proposed arrangement also permits the use of lightning arresters without undue complication when the tuning capacitor (2) is placed on top of the ring, that is remote from earth.
