Storage plant for converter exhaust gas - which can either be fed into gasometer or burnt as flare in exhaust gas chimney

Gas obtd. during the oxygen blowing of a converter is driven by a fan up a pressure duct with three branches, each contg. a shutter valve actuated by a measuring and control appts. One branch leads directly to a chimney employed to burn the converter exhaust gas as a flare; the second branch consists of a by-pass also leading to the chimney; whereas the third branch leads to a gasometer. The gas pressure in the gasometer is used to open or close the shutter valve leading directly to the chimney; and a non-return valve is located in the branch leading to the gasometer. The measuring and control appts. is used for continuous determn. of O2 and CO in the gas, so only gas with a desired compsn. is fed to the gasometer; and the gas is only fed to the gasometer when the latter has adequate storage capacity.
