The travel path measuring appts. incorporates a path pulse generator actuated in dependence on wheel rotation. The pulse follower frequency, dpendent on the generator design and the speed is increased by a multiplier. The pulses control an evaluation device. Each period of the path pulses is registered in an incremental counter (Z1). The counter receives pulses of a clock pulses generator (G) reduced by a given factor in their follower frequency. The counter state is stored in a memory (SR) for presetting a second counter (72), whose volume is programmable and which is directly switched forward by the pulses of the clock pulse generator. The second counter output is connected to the evaluation device (AG).
