Relay casing seal against moisture and solder - by textile fibre mat and foil lining fitting cup-shaped housing

The openings in the bottom of a cup-shaped casing for relays, through which the pins for the connections pass, are sealed to protect them against moisture ingress and solder, when the leads are soldered to the ends. This is done by lining the bottom first with a fibre mat of textile or synthetic resin fibres and with a foil to protect the relay against the fibres. When the pins are forced through the lining, a reliable seal is produced. This prevents the ingress of water as well as of solder.
