<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the supersaturation of molten steel with C as well as the occurrence of bumping phenomenon and the damage to hearth by concurrently charging an oxidant composed of Si-Mn briquets in an amount corresponding to the amount of excessive oxygen of reduced iron, together with the reduced iron, into an electric furnace. CONSTITUTION:Reduced iron and quick lime are supplied from hoppers 1 and 2 onto a belt conveyer 3 and their amounts are regulated to ones corresponding to the capacity of the transformer of the electric furnace 10. On the other hand, Si-Mn briquets are supplied from a hopper 5 onto the belt conveyer 6 are regulated to an amount corresponding to the amount of reduced iron supplied by means of a weighing machine 7. These are charged through an elevator 8, a belt conveyer 9, and chute 11 from the belt conveyer 3 into the electric furnace 10 where iron scrpas are melted. The preferred size of the Si-Mn briquets is almost the size of fist and their specific gravity is preferably approx. 3.2 or more.</p> |
