HERBICIDALLY ACTIVE DIURETHANES AND THEIR USE

Novel diurethanes of the general formula are described, in which R1 is hydrogen, C1-C4 alkyl or C2-C4 alkenyl, R2 is phenyl, methylphenyl, methoxyphenyl, chlorophenyl, dichlorophenyl, cyclohexyl, benzyl or phenylethyl, R3 is C1-C4 alkyl, C2-C4 alkenyl, C2-C4 alkinyl, chloro-C1-C4 alkyl, chloro-C214 C4 alkenyl, or chloro-C2-C4 alkinyl and X is oxygen or sulfur. Compositions containing at least one of the compounds of the general formula exhibit exceptional selective herbicidal properties.
