The valve is intended for admitting secondary air to the connection between the carburettor and the inlet manifold of an i.c. engine. It is operated by the inlet vacuum and comprises a housing containing a closure member on a valve stem which extends downwards through the seat opening into a liquid-filled downwardly converging conical chamber. The member is spring and weight loaded to close and the weight is contained in the liquid and forms a gap with the chamber wall to damp valve movement due to the vacuum. The weight carries an outer sleeve which is axially adjustable to set the width of this gap.
