The gas turbine for an exhaust-driven turbo-charger comprises a shaft (1,2) having a ceramic portion (2) carrying a ceramic turbine rotor (5) and a metallic shaft portion (1) carrying a metal compressor rotor (6). The radial shaft bearings (3,4) are arranged on the ceramic shaft portion (2), the two shaft portions being connected (25,27,28) on the compressor rotor side of the bearings. The metal shaft portion (1) may have a bush-shaped end (16) in which the stub end (25) of the ceramic shaft portion (2) is secured, by adhesive (27).
