A manually operated valve is used to change the water flow between the shower outlet (11) and the bath tub outlet (12). A rotary knob (2) with an internal eccentric shaft (21) moves the valve piston element (3) to the selected position. A leaf spring (22) acting on the inside of the control knob, returns the knob automatically to its centre position. By switching off the water flow to the tap, the valve element (3) is moved automatically to a preferred outlet position.
