Jig for rotating large, thin-walled containers or silos - esp. for machining or welding operations used in mfg. large cylindrical silos

The container or silo is laid on its side so its axis is horizontal. Each end of the silo is mounted on a shaft which can rotate in a bearing located on the top end of a vertical frame. One of the two frames carries an electric motor which is employed to rotate one of the shafts so the silo can be rotated. When a round silo is to be machined or welded, it is pref. fixed by flanges onto the two shafts. Each vertical frame is pref. fixed on a horizontal frame provided with wheels so the jig formed by the frames can travel along the ground and then be anchored by adjustable feet. The silo can be rotated on a truly circular path, e.g. for welding parts of the silo together where the parts have been temporarily joined by tack welding.
