<p>High mol. wt. nonionic polyacrylamide-based flocking agent is added in a wet-process for removing dust from bentonite. The process comprises mixing the water contg. floating dust particles with a flocking agent, charging to a settling tank in which the floating particles are deposited as sludge and recycling the clear water to the dust-removal process. The process can be used for recovering bentonite, used as binder in casting moulds. The water used can remain in dust-removing cycle. Valuable deposited materials can be re-used. The pptd. bentonite, present in dust, retains its activity. Bentonite water-retention property is improved, e.g. from 200 to 320-340.</p> |
