The actuating mechanism is for the lid of a pressure vessel, having a top opening against which it is clamped. To open the vessel the lid is lifted for a limited amount by an external spring and then swung sideways. A bush turns on a vertical pin fixed to the vessel. Two horizontal and diametrally opposite bearing trunnions, engaging in eyes on the lid, are mounted on the bush. The spring (25) is so arranged as to lift the bush (26), from which the trunnions (28) protrude, for a limited distance in relation to the vertical pin.PS.
