The clip (1) has two clamp elements (2,3) lying in perpendicular planes, one of which is used to attach the clip (1) to a rail or handle formed as part of the vacuum cleaner housing (6) and the other used to grip the suction hose. A stop latch (4) projects from the clip (1) and acts against a stop edge (9) of the vacuum cleaner housing (6) to oppose tipping of the supported suction hose. Pref. the clip (1) is attached to a handgrip (7) extending across the front of a handle recess (8) formed in the vacuum cleaner housing (6), with the stop latch (4) projecting across the width of this ecess (8), its free end having a stop edge (5) of complementary shape to the rear edge (9) of the recess (8). The clip is used to hold the hose when cleaning is interrupted to stop it falling against furniture etc.
