The woven or knitted piece goods are subjected to no or very little longitudinal tension while being carried between tbe preliminary and final stages of a treatment process, such as a padding machine with drying or fixing phases in the cycle. The method ensures that the wefts and stitches in the fabric are not distorted, and the fabric is not structurally changed which would lead to reassertion in use.
