摘要 PURPOSE:To cope with change of design easily, to reduce the restraint in regard to a substrate and to simplify mounting work of an integrated circuit device for optical transmission by a method wherein a parallel digital signal is transmitted by an optical multiplex system using a transmission line consisting of a simple structural transmit-receive unit and a piece of optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:The transmitting unit 1 and the receiving unit 2 are connected with a piece of optical fiber 3, the units 1, 2 are made to have the same shape, and are made to form integrated circuits being sealed with packages 4 according to synthetic resin molding. The unit 1 is constituted of a parallel converter part to convert the parallel digital signal sent from a terminal 6 into a series signal, a transmission control part to control the converter part thereof and a light emitting element to generate an optical signal being driven by an output of the converter part. The unit 2 is constituted of a photo detector to generate an electric signal receiving the optical signal, a series-parallel converter part to send an output to the terminal 6 converting the series signal sent from the photo detector into the parallel signal and a transmission control part, and engaging holes 5 to engage with the end parts of the fiber 3 are provided respectively in the units 1, 2.
