PURPOSE:To constitute a titled display device so that there is a complementary color relation between a color of a ground and a color of the form of a character, and a pattern, by constituting so that the polarization direction of one substrate of electrode substrates consisting of a synthetic resin film, and the polarization direction of a polarization plate of this substrate side are made parallel or perpenticular. CONSTITUTION:This liquid crystal display device is constituted so that one polarization direction and a rubbing direction 11 of an upper synthetic resin substrate 1 are parallel with a polarization direction 9 of an upper polarization plate 4, a polarization direction 10 of a lower polarization plate 5 is parallel with a rubbing direction 12 of a lower synthetic resin substrate 2, and also a polarization direction 8 of the substrate 2 is constituted at an angle (0 deg.<theta<90 deg.) to the polarization direction 10 of the polarization plate 5, and a space between these substrates 1, 2 is filled with a TN-type liquid crystal 3. A transmission light beam of this liquid crystal display device assumes a hue decided by an expression inherent to a value of retardation of a synthetic resin film constituting the substrates 1, 2, therefore, a display color is changed freely by a difference of thickness of the synthetic resin film and a method of manufacture (especially, an orienting speed). |
