PURPOSE:To obtain a pump which can readily control the transporting quantity and time of liquid helium by disposing spherical cathodes to a conductive supporting rod in skewed state in a structure in which anodes are concentrically disposed with respect to the cathodes. CONSTITUTION:A supply side liquid helium tank 12 and a transporting side liquid helium tank 11 are connected via a pump 7 set in a transfer tube 10. The pump 7 has spherical cathodes 1, 1,... supported to a conductive supporting rod 8 in a skewed state, a cylindrical anode 7 concentrically disposed in insulation from the cathodes 1, and insulating spacers 9, 9 disposed between both electrodes having holes for passing liquid helium. When DC voltage is applied between the electrodes, the liquid helium in the tank 12 is raised on the spherical surface of the cathode 1 and is continued during the voltage applying period of time. Accordingly, the liquid helium can be sequentially transported into the tank 11. |
