PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a polymerization inhibitor of a synthetic rubber in high selectivity, by reducing acetaldoxime with hydrogen in the presence of a noble metallic catalyst and an alkaline metallic hydroxide or alkaline earth metallic hydroxide. CONSTITUTION:Acetaldoxime is reduced with hydrogen in the presence of a noble metallic catalyst, e.g. platinum, an alkaline metallic hydroxide e.g. NaOH, or alkaline earth metallic hydroxide to give the aimed compound. Pure hydrogen gas or its mixed gas with an inert gas, e.g. N2, for the reaction is used. The partial pressure of hydrogen in the reaction is normal one-10kg/cm<2>.G, and the reaction temperature is preferably 0-60 deg.C. |
