The hatch or similar cover is particularly for inland waterway vessels and has rollers (2,3) each hinging on it. The rollers are movable between a retracted position and an extended one in which the hatch is supported on the rollers and are lockable in the latter position. The rollers can be pulled into the locked position by a cable (4), wound onto a spindle between two plates.
