<p>7 beta -Aminothiadiazolylacetamido-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid compounds of the formula <IMAGE> in which Am is an optionally protected amino group, R1 is hydrogen, optionally substituted lower alkyl or cycloalkyl, or optionally N-substituted carbamoyl, R2 is hydrogen or lower alkoxy, R3 is hydrogen, acyloxy or heterocyclylthio, and R4 is an optionally protected carboxyl group, and salts of these compounds which have a salt-forming group, are prepared by various processes known per se. The compounds have excellent antibiotic properties. In the form of pharmaceutical compositions for parenteral administration they can be used for the treatment of bacterial infections. 1,2,4-Thiadiazole starting compounds and processes for the preparation thereof are also described.</p> |
