System comprises, in series along the gas flow path from the furnace, a coarse dust collector, a dry fine dust collector, a turbine, and a terminal pipe connected to the turbine outlet pipe. A by-pass pipe is mounted in parallel with the turbine and connected to the terminal pipe. A cooling device is provided in the by-pass pipe or the terminal pipe so that the gas passing through the by-pass pipe is cooled to a temp. no higher than a preset temp. at a position downstream of the cooling device. The cooling device protects the terminal pipe and units utilising the blast furnace gas against high temp. gas which has by-passed the turbine.
