PURPOSE:To produce a captioned electrode having high capacity density with good efficiency, by controlling NH4<+> formed in electrolysis when Ni(OH)2 and Co(OH)2 are immersed in a porous Ni substrate by an electrolytic deposition method. CONSTITUTION:A porous Ni substrate is connected, making an anode and a cathode in an aqueous nickel nitrate solution and an aqueous cobalt nitrate solution or in an aqueous solution of a mixture of the two, and current is passed between two electrodes. Accordingly, Ni(OH)2 and Co(OH)2 or a mixture of the two are contained in the Ni substrate as active materials of the battery. When electrolysis is effected controlling ammonium ion, which is formed in electrolysis in the above-mentioned aqueous solution, to less than 1.5mol/l by a proper method, active materials can be efficiently separated and immersed in the substrate. |
