Marine buoys of fibre reinforced resin with reinforced cement lining - for light, tough buoys cheaper than equivalent foam filled structures

Structures for use in a marine environment have a shell of glass reinforced resin from which extends on the internal face, partly immersed coils of wire to keep a subsequently cast and relatively deep lining of cement. For mfr. of buoyant structures requiring weather and impact resistance above and/or below water level., e.g. navigation buoys with or without lamp towers. Cheaper and lighter, for the larger sizes, than reinforced resin shells completely infilled with a closed cell foam. The interfacial and ancillary reinforcement allow the cement lining to be lighter and tougher than a plain lining would be.
