The display stand is mounted on a base (1) which supports the vertical shaft (2) about which the stand rotates. A tubular shaft (3) fits over the vertical shaft and to this are mounted three radially extending panels (5,6,7) which bear advertising material. The base of the stand has a peripheral region (11) which bears a scale on which the numbers from one to forty-nine are marked. Along one of the free edges of one of the panels is mounted a pointer and this is used in conjunction with the scale to select an article randomly.
