<p>An enclosure or lining for storing items in a thermally insulated environment comprises a group of box panels each being an expanded polyurethane core inside a cover of polypropylene film and having edges which can butt together to form a hollow box. The outer faces of the panels may have a stiff cover of e.g. pressed board. The foam cores may be developed within their covers, pref. confined together with the other components in a common press. The cores may be expanded to a density of about 50 kg/m3. The polypropylene covers are pref.of channelled sheet such as 'Akylux' (RTM) hollow sheet 2-4mm thick made by sec. Cartonneries de Kayserberg, of density c.a. 450g/m2. The boarders of the panels may have bevelled faces: alt. the interface of overlapping stepped faces may be lined with seal strips of expanded rubber. Used esp. for cheap or disposable storage for e.g. hot or chilled foods, being more durable and less permeable than enclosure of expanded polystyrene.</p> |
