<p>The earthquake resistant building comprises a wooden frame fixed to the floor and ceiling to which vertical wall panels are attached by stainless steel tabs. During an earthquake the tabs fracture, causing the panels to fall outwardly and protecting the inhabitants of the building. Each panel comprises two uprights connected by a cross-beam and covered by sheets of fibre impregnated cement. The panels are independent from the exterior wall dressing and carry an internal layer of insulation.</p> |
