<p>The shaft of a cupola accommodates a series of burners about its perimeter each having a duct which has height and width dimensions at its outlet cross-section in the range of 0.09- 0.65 and 0.02-0.1 of the dia. of the shaft, respectively. Used for melting Fe or minerals to make slag wool in a cupula furnace. optimisation of the geometric parameters of the ducts and burners attains deep penetration of hot gases into the refractory packing, raising of the melt temp., improve- ment in heat efficiency factor and increase in material throughput of the melting unit.</p> |
