Flash removal from inside welded pipes - using appts. with pivoted cutting tool holders supported by rollers

The flash removal appts. comprises a body on which V-shaped two-arm levers are mounted around its periphery. A cutting tool holder is pivoted to one arm of each of the levers and cutting tools are rigidly attached to the holders. Drives, for turning the levers, are mounted on the body, each being connected with the other arm of each of the levers. On the front and rear ends of the cutting tool holders, there are mounted rollers in contact with the inner surface of the pipe. The appts. is useful in laying pipelines and in welding casing pipes. The cutting tool holders can be held in a withdrawn position during transport of the appts. thus facilitating movement of the appts. within the pipe. Abrasive wear of the rollers is insignificant compared with that of sliding supports so that any dangerous increase in cutting depth is excluded. Hence, the period between repairs of the appts. is increased, power- consumption for moving the appts. within pipes is reduced, and damage to the pipe walls and weld during flash removal is excluded.
