The part (1) of the flange intended to receive the workpieces (13) has, at the location of each of these, a set of grooves (5) connected by passages (6) to a chamber (7) in which a partial vacuum prevails. The set of workpieces (13) is thus held on the flange, which enables it to be turned over, loaded with workpieces (13), in order to place it on the grinding plate of a diamond cutter. The flange comprises three stops (15-16) which can be adjusted in position by means of micrometric screws (18-19-20) whose projection on the front face (4) of the flange determines the final thickness of the workpieces at the end of the lapping operation. <IMAGE>
