The combination timepiece comprises an electro-optical digital display 10 disposed in the timepiece case 18 behind analog time indicator hands 16, 17 to provide a visible face over which the hands continuously sweep. The electro-optical display 10 includes a central aperture through which the spindles supporting the hands 16, 17 extend from the timepiece gear train and further includes selectively actuable indicia 11 for displaying extra time-related information in digital form on the timepiece face in conjunction with the analog time information provided by the hands. The digital display and a stepping motor driving the hands preferably both receive timekeeping signals from a common integrated circuit 51 mounted in a module assembly in the timepiece case. The module assembly includes a front and rear frame members 32, 30 with a printed circuit board 50 carrying the integrated circuit 51 held therebetween. The stepping motor 34 and gear train of the timepiece are also supported between the frame members and the circuit board 50 includes a centre hole to allow the hands spindles to extend therethrough. The front frame 32 carries the electro-optical display 10 and preferably also an annular dial ring 14 bearing time markers 15 around the periphery of the display to cooperate with the analog hands 16, 17 and in conjunction with the display to provide an aesthetically pleasing timepiece face.
