Wooden shingle house wall cladding - has overlapping offset grooved rectangular strips cut both ways from grooved plywood

Provision is made for cladding walls of houses with wooden shingles(4), of traditional Black Forest of Scandinavian appearance. Standard-type panels of weatherproof plywood, grooved on one surface parallel to the edges, have rectangular strips cut out of them, at right angles to the grooves and parallel to the grooves. These are then rebated on a longitudinal edge of the ungrooved side, and nailed (3a) to fixing battens (2), on the wall, one on top of the other with mutually offset grooves, and side by side with the rebate covering the nailing points of the overlapped strips.
