The invention is intended to create a feeding attachment with which in particular long bar stock can be fed to a lathe preferably from a magazine. Here, only a small amount of space and outlay are to be necessary and the service properties of the lathe are to be extended. The essence of the invention consists in a roller conveyor being provided behind the guide tube in the axial direction of the rotary spindle. The roller conveyor is fastened to a cross slide which is fastened to a frame in such a way that it can be displaced according to program into two end positions and carries a push-in and advance mechanism. Its drive is effected via a coupling power-splitting transmission, one coupling being connected via a gear train to a conveying chain with a driver for the push-in and a further coupling being connected via a rack-and-pinion drive to an advance bar for the advance of the bar stock.
