ENZYMATIC CLEAVAGE OF N-ACYL-THIENAMYCINS

A method is disclosed for cleaving N-acylthienamycin compounds to yield thienamycin. The new method disclosed herein utilizes enzymes which are penicillin amidohydrolases to treat the starting compounds resulting in the antibiotic thienamycin.
