PURPOSE:To enable an oxidizing treatment to be conducted efficiently even at a low temperature without by-producing harmful NOx by a method wherein a base metal-based catalyst, a nobel metal-based catalyst or a catalyst combined further with an NOx selective reduction catalyst is used when conducting an oxidizing treatment of an ammonia-containing exhaust gas. CONSTITUTION:In a device for an oxidizing treatment of an ammonia-containing industrial exhaust gas to oxidize ammonia into N2 by heating in the presence of a catalyst, the exhaust gas is passed sequentially through a base metal-based catalyst, a noble metal catalyst or further through an NOx selective reduction catalyst each of which is supported on a carrier made of glass fibers. As the base metal-based catalyst, Cr2O3, MgO, SnO, FeO, CoO, NiO, MnO, V2O5, MoO3 or the like is used. As the precious metal-based catalyst, Pt, Pd, Rh or the like is used. Or, as the NOx selective reduction catalyst, a base metal-based one such as FeO, Cr2O3, V2O5 or the like is used. The catalytic activity of each of the catalysts is uniform and high in a temperature range of 250-350 deg.C, and harmful NOx is not produced in the oxidizing treatment. |
