Rods or wires made of an active material are inserted in tubes made of an electrically-conducting material. The tubes are then collected together as a bundle, which is mechanically worked to reduce its cross-section area and is then cut transversely into flat disks. The active material is pref. an alloy contg. 50% Ni and 50% Ti, and is pref. placed in Cu tubes; several Cu tubes are then placed in an outer Cu tube to form the bundle. After reducing the dia. of the bundle by mechanical working, the prod.is pref. provided with a hexagonal cross-section before being cut into hexagonal disks. Used for alternate storage and emission of hydrogen. Simple mfr. of negative accumulator electrodes or other subjects with a high storage capacity for hydrogen. |
