<p>PURPOSE:To perform printing at a high speed while using a limited power source capacity and without reducing the printing quality, by a method wherein a dot density is discriminated by previously counting the number of dots to be printed in one line, and a dividing number for printing the one line and a paper feed rate conforming thereto are selected in accordance with the dot density. CONSTITUTION:Printing data LD for one line is serially transferred to a line buffer 1 and is stored, and it is also transferred to a shift register 2 and is stored. Then, the data is fed out from the shift register 2 sequentially by one bit at a time by a shift pulse SP, dot information is solely fed out from an AND gate 3 and the total number of dots in the one line is counted by a dot counter 4. The counted value is transferred to a dividing number selecting circuit 5, which selects the dividing number according to the dot density in the line to be printed at that time.</p> |
