PURPOSE:To detect a subtle difference in contrast and an out-of-focus image by generating a difference charge between signal charges transferred to two successive wells, by detecting the potential of a floating gate electrode, and by squaring and accumulating it. CONSTITUTION:Respective video signal charges converted photo-electrically through a photosensitive picture array 1 are transferred and accumulated successively in a constant direction through a charge transfer type shift register 3. A difference output circuit 11 generates the quantity of charge which is a difference between two mutually-adjacent signal charges transferred successively through the shift register 3, detecting a potential which corresponds to the quantity of charge. The output potential of the difference output circuit is squared by a squaring circuit 12 and integrated by a summing circuit 13. |
