PURPOSE:To indicate the gas leaking point readily and assuredly and to prevent the diffusion of the gas, by subdividing gas pipe into sections having an appropriate size and coating the pipe by a cover comprising an expandable material. CONSTITUTION:A numeral 1 is a hose shaped coating cover which is coated on the outer surface of the gas pipe 2 and made of rubber coated cloth wherein a rubber layer 16 is provided on the internal surface of a textile layer 1a which is wooven into a bias state. Numerals 3 are tightening metal fixtures. The coating cover 1 is compressed to the outer surface of the gas pipe 1 at the tightening positions in a hermetically sealed state. When a crack occurs in the gas pipe 2 and the gas is leaked, the leaked gas filled in a space between the coating cover 1 and the wall of the gas pipe 2 and between the tightening metal fixtures 3 and 3. The coating cover 1 on that section is expanded by said gas pressure. The hermetical sealing property of the coating cover 1 is maintained by the raw material of rubber, and the diffusion of the leaked gas is prevented. By utilizing the structural characteristics of the bias textile, the expansion readily occurs when the gas leakage occurs. Sufficient tension resistance and breaking resistance are provided after the expansion. |
