A porous, sintered Ti-Al alloy has specific surface area of 0.01-1 m2/g, density of 20-80% of theoretical density and good mechanical strength, suitable for use in capacitor anode bodies, catalyzers, filters, etc. A mixed, press-shaped body of 10-90 atom. % Ti powder and 90-10 atom. % Al powder is processed by a first heat-treatment at 500 DEG to 665 DEG C. for 5 to 60 minutes to make it porous and then by a second heat-treatment at 700 DEG to 1300 DEG C. for 5 to 60 minutes to increase mechanical strength.
